Clay County Electric awards scholarships for lineman program
Clay County Electric is proud to announce Jacob Mooneyhan and Bentley Grubb as our 2024 High Voltage Lineman Technology (HVLT) program scholarship recipients to attend Arkansas State University at Newport. Jacob is a 2024 high school graduate of Rector High School, and the son of Jennifer Varner and Jeremy Mooneyhan. Bentley is a 2024 high school graduate of Corning High School, and the son of Mary Ann and Jason Grubb.
Mooneyhan and Grubb will be attending the 10-month program starting in the fall. The HVLT program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills needed to install, repair, service and maintain electrical power lines and supporting equipment. The program includes instruction in AC/DC electrical theory, safety, transformers, tools, material, testing equipment, pole framing and the operation of bucket and digger derrick trucks.
Upon completion of the program, students can obtain careers with electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, contract electric companies, fiber broadband companies and other entities in Arkansas and nationwide.
Clay County Electric sponsors students to attend the program and provides an internship for the scholarship recipients, which is required to complete the program. Clay County Electric would like to congratulate Jacob and Bentley and wish them the best of luck in the HVLT program!
